Passports are internationally regarded as credible, high quality travel and identification documents. Anyone who has undergone the process of applying for a passport knows that there is a strict application process that requires a range of supporting documentation such as a birth certificate and proof of citizenship.
It is no wonder criminals charge a high price for passport fraud. Fake passports have been linked to espionage, people smuggling, drug trafficking, identity theft and a range of other criminal activities.
The effects of fake passports continue to trouble governments today. On May 10th of 2018, U.S. officials uncovered a fraud scheme that allowed foreigners to enter the United States under false identities. It was discovered that around 700 people fraudulently obtained authentic Hungarian passports and assumed the identities of the original passport holders.
VeriDoc Global has developed a verification system that leverages blockchain technology and smart contracts. Our solution allows you to verify that the passport you are looking at is the true and correct passport.

Use any QR code reader to scan the QR code on page 4 of the passport to verify on blockchain.

VeriDoc Globals finished solution involves embedding a Secured QR code on a passport with a unique digital hash inside the QR code. The hash holds a string of information that is then placed on the blockchain network for security, verification, and most important end-user validation.

Fake passports are usually copies of illegally modified genuine passports made by unauthorised persons.
There is currently no way of quickly verifying if the passport you are looking at is a true and correct document. Stereo microscopes are sometimes used at international airports to check the authenticity of a passport. We’ve also seen many times in cinematic movies that databases can be hacked and what airport officials see on their computers may not be the same passport that was originally created.
VeriDoc Global has developed a solution that involves embedding a QR code on a passport with a unique digital hash inside the QR code. The hash holds a string of information that is then placed on the blockchain network for security, verification and most important end user validation.
Using any QR code reading app, scan the QR code on the passport and the app will show you the true document produced by the issuer. This allows you to compare and see if the passport is an original or a fake.
